Executive Director
In October 2024, the Anderson Education Foundation's (AEF) Board of Directors approved the hiring of Maria Alexander as Executive Director. In this role she oversees the day-to-day operations of AEF which includes grant programs, the Anderson Community Schools (ACS) Hall of Fame, and fundraising efforts to support students, teachers, and staff at ACS.
A resident of Anderson since 2000, Alexander is committed to making the community a better place for everyone. After graduating from Anderson University, she worked as a youth pastor. More recently she has worked with students through More and Diverse Voices, Standing Up for Racial Equity (SURE), as a volunteer with Community Lens of Anderson, and she was on the planning committee for the Anderson Pride event held last summer.
Along with a group of students, she also helped to produce a new documentary that was released last month at the Anderson Impact Center called “Black Excellence resides in Anderson.” The documentary, found here, has generated a lot of positive feedback from the community.
