Two Anderson High School students were awarded a grant to attend the National High School Press Association Convention last November. While the grant covered their convention registration and lodging, it did not cover transportation. That's when the Anderson Education Foundation (AEF) stepped in with our Opportunity Fund to cover the students' plane tickets.
"I have been impressed by AEF's contribution to student success and academic opportunities," said Andrew Biller, Publications Advisor at Anderson High School who requested the Opportunity Fund grant.
At the conference students had the opportunity to connect with other student-run journalism programs across the country, receive feedback from professional journalists and journalism educators, participate in collaborative workshops, and make new friends.
The AEF Opportunity Fund serves to help Anderson Community Schools (ACS) students access funds which would otherwise serve as a barrier to their educational attainment while at ACS. Click here for more information.
